This seminar will explore both research-based knowledge and approaches as well as delve into practical tools to measure and increase psychological safety within schools. Our psychologist will provide an explanation of psychological safety, observed behaviour comparisons in environments with and without psychological safety, and how this topic links to the larger concept of human Hierarchical Needs. We will explore how students are affected personally and within the classroom when they feel psychologically safe, as well as how this can be observed longitudinally. The seminar will then focus on practical strategies that staff can implement and encourage to support students’ mental wellbeing and personal experience of psychological safety within their school.
