Kehoe-France Schools: Building a foundation for student wellbeing
Kehoe-France Schools: Building a foundation for student wellbeing
For this case study, the Komodo team spoke with Stephanie Claverie, Wellness Coordinator at Kehoe-France Schools

Kehoe-France Schools operates two campuses, Northshore and Southshore, each with its own programs, traditions, and community feel. Dedicated to creating an enriched educational environment, Kehoe-France prioritises the individual potential of each student, placing equal importance on intellectual, spiritual, emotional, and social development. Their purpose is simple but powerful: to build a love of learning during a child's most formative years.
As a proud member of the International Schools Partnership (ISP) and one of its 10 LabSchools, Kehoe-France plays an active role in piloting innovative technology that supports ISP's mission of "amazing learning" and amplifying student experiences and achievements.

The implementation of Komodo Wellbeing
When Stephanie Claverie transitioned from her role as a guidance counsellor at the Southshore campus into the position of Wellness Coordinator, she was actively working with the Northshore campus to develop their wellness approach. Komodo is proud to have played a role in shaping their wellbeing strategy and revealing what the data truly reflects about their student experience. “Komodo is really good at uncovering those kids that fly below the radar. The child may appear happy and thriving, but they may use Komodo to report something different, and it makes us able to question what's going on"

As part of ISP's LabSchools initiative, Kehoe-France became one of the first schools to pilot the Komodo Wellbeing platform, implementing it first at the Northshore campus before rolling it out to Southshore. Stephanie led the implementation across both campuses, and the experience, while different on each, was impactful.

Getting teachers on board
One of the earliest lessons Stephanie identified was the importance of thorough teacher preparation. Rather than simply introducing a new platform and hoping for adoption, Kehoe-France invested time in walking teachers through not just what Komodo was, but what to expect once it was live. Training included videos, PowerPoint presentations, and honest conversations about the volume of check-ins they might receive in the early stages.
The onboarding support provided by the Komodo Customer Experience team played a significant role in building teacher confidence.
As Stephanie noted, ‘the Komodo customer service aspect has been great. Teachers have found it user-friendly and, to support getting teachers trained, the team sent a great video and slide presentation to answer any of our questions'

Once teachers saw for themselves how quick and seamless the survey process was, their concerns disappeared. As Stephanie described it, "Kids can walk in, you can say, 'Hey, take your survey.' If they're a third or fourth grader, they scan the QR code, done in two minutes." It didn't add complexity, and the data it produced made the small investment of time immediately worthwhile. "It doesn't take away from instruction time. It's a quick, easy process. And once they actually saw that happening, they were like, 'Oh, okay. No big deal.'
At the Southshore campus, the team took implementation a step further by developing a dedicated Komodo Wellbeing staff policy handbook, designed for all faculty, staff, and administrators involved in supporting student wellbeing. The handbook clearly outlines roles, responsibilities, expectations, and procedures for using the platform - addressing a critical operational question that schools can overlook: when a concern is flagged, who follows up, and how?

Making it work for students
Equally important was ensuring students understood the purpose behind the platform. Stephanie made a deliberate effort to teach students the why behind the Komodo questions, explaining what the platform was and how it empowered them to ask for help safely. "I think students feel comfortable using this system because they can use a check-in." The response from students was telling; their feedback was that the platform was "great, it's easy and quick.” For a generation of young people who are often reluctant to seek help, having a low-friction check-in system proved to be genuine.

Shifting school culture around wellbeing
Within just one or two survey cycles, Stephanie and her team were already seeing data that changed how they understood their students. "We immediately started seeing that data… when you start to see the comments and the wellbeing scores moving up and down, you realise that the majority of students are being honest."
The platform also revealed patterns tied to the school calendar that Stephanie found particularly valuable. "We tend to catch kids right before and right after a break. I always find that fascinating to see. Is there more fatigue than before? Are we refreshed when we come back?" These insights have directly informed how the school plans its support and structures its survey schedule throughout the year.

Changing the conversation in meetings
Komodo has fundamentally shifted how wellbeing is discussed at a leadership and staff level. Administrative meetings now regularly feature wellbeing data alongside traditional curriculum discussions, and Stephanie has actively attended Middle Years Programme meetings to present and discuss findings directly with teachers. The quality of engagement she's encountered has been exceptional. "Teachers ask a lot of thoughtful questions. It's like, well, this popped up, and how do we handle it?"
The result has been a meaningful shift in culture. "I think it has brought wellbeing into the forefront of meetings," Stephanie observed. "We talk a lot about the data in our leadership meetings and our weekly admin meetings."
Wellbeing is no longer a side conversation; it sits alongside curriculum and operations as a core part of how the school reflects upon and improves its practice.

Deepening conversations with parents
The data has also transformed parent-teacher conversations, shifting the focus from pure academic performance to the growth of the whole child. Stephanie actively encourages teachers to bring wellbeing concerns to parent-teacher conferences.

A school climate survey that revealed the bigger picture
At the Northshore campus, Stephanie used Komodo's question library to design a school climate survey, a one-off deep dive into how students felt about their school environment and their relationships with teachers. The survey provided a broader lens through which leadership could understand the psychological safety of the school environment.
Ultimately, the impact of Komodo at Kehoe-France comes down to a belief Stephanie holds deeply:
"If you support wellbeing, you're helping students feel comfortable and safe in their learning environment, they're then going to be engaged in the learning process."
By providing consistent, honest data about how students are truly feeling, Komodo has enabled the team to create an environment where students feel genuinely supported and where meaningful learning becomes possible as a result.

Kehoe-France Schools' journey with Komodo is a testament to what's possible when a school commits to a culture of wellbeing. From surfacing hidden struggles to transforming staff meetings, deepening parent conversations, and building robust wellness processes, Komodo has become an integral part of how Kehoe-France understands and supports its students.
“Probably after two surveys, I told Daniel Williams (Head of Product Adoption Global) and Catherine White (EdTech Bench Lead), this is great. Every school should have it. I think it provides such valuable data for meaningful interactions, whether that's with students, teachers, or parents."
As part of a first-phase rollout, Komodo at Kehoe-France Schools stands as a compelling example of what it looks like to put wellbeing at the heart of education and ISP’s commitment to using evidence-led technology in classrooms that demonstrate meaningful impact.
