Reaching every student: How Amnuay Silpa School is transforming wellbeing support

For this case study, the Komodo team spoke with Aranya Jittithaworn, School Counsellor at Amnuay Silpa School.

Founded in 1929, Amnuay Silpa School (ANS) is a coeducational private school located in Bangkok, Thailand. The school offers a unique International Bilingual Education, a Thai-UK curriculum set within an internationally accredited environment. ANS holds the distinction of being the first "Thinking School in Asia", accredited by Exeter University and the first accredited Thinking School in all of Southeast Asia. This framework centres on fostering independence, reflective thinking, and empowering students with the skills to think critically, creatively, and with purpose. ANS has a dedicated pastoral team and an on-site counsellor who supports student wellbeing through individual and group therapy sessions, as well as student and parent workshops.

Since introducing Komodo, ANS has seen it become a crucial part of how students, staff, and families engage with wellbeing across the school. One of the most significant shifts has been in how students access support. "Komodo is a platform that students like and are happy to use," says Aranya. "They use it to request a check-in with a counsellor, homeroom teacher, or a trusted adult in the school." This has enabled Aranya to connect with students she wouldn't typically see through referrals. "Some of those students were out of sight, and I never talked to them, but they requested to see me."

Students have also embraced Komodo's compliments feature with real enthusiasm, actively using it to share positive feedback with staff members. What has particularly caught Aranya's attention was the students who have been giving compliments. "Sometimes I am surprised by the students who give me a compliment…it is lovely." The privacy of the platform removes a barrier that face-to-face expression simply cannot, allowing gratitude to flow in ways that might otherwise never happen.

Data from the platform has been valuable for targeted intervention. Komodo has helped Aranya identify common challenges during exam season, for instance, stress around time management and drops in sleep hygiene scores become clearly visible, enabling her to design timely assemblies and activities that directly address what students are experiencing. "It helps me create topics we need to talk to students about and hold assemblies or activities on how to promote mental health and wellbeing," she explains.

Aranya has also made excellent use of Komodo's customisable open-question feature to capture student voice directly. In a recent survey ahead of a school break, she asked students what they were most looking forward to; responses included needing time to reflect, more sleep, time to revise, and time to spend with friends and family. This kind of insight speaks directly to ANS's identity as a Thinking School, encouraging students to reflect meaningfully on their own wellbeing needs. "It's good to hear those thoughts," says Aranya.

Looking at the platform's longitudinal data has added another layer of understanding. "For the long term, we can see the graphs going up and down, we can see when it goes down, it relates to being overwhelmed with exams or assignments, and when it goes high, it relates to near school breaks like Christmas." This seasonal visibility allows the team to anticipate pressure points and respond proactively rather than reactively.

Student wellbeing data has also been integrated into the school's yearly parent-teacher meetings. For students Aranya sees regularly, she prepares a report drawing directly on Komodo's data, commenting on the highest and lowest scoring themes to give parents a richer, more informed picture of their child's wellbeing journey.

Aranya has taken a whole-community approach to embedding Komodo at ANS from the very beginning. At the start of each term, she hosts orientation sessions for staff on how to use the platform effectively. She meets individually with students to explain its purpose and why the school has chosen to use it, and leads parent workshops so that families understand how Komodo works and how it can support their children. "That's why everyone understands it."

Amnuay Silpa School's experience with Komodo reflects what is possible when a school's commitment to holistic education is matched with the right tools. By embedding Komodo thoughtfully across the entire school community, from individual counselling sessions to parent workshops ANS has created a wellbeing ecosystem that is proactive, personalised, and built on trust. "We made the right decision to use it," says Aranya. As she and her pastoral team continue to use the platform's data to inform and refine their approach, Komodo remains a vital partner in ANS's mission to support every student to thrive.
